“Why are we here and Hobbes is in Heaven?  Why do we have to go to school and boys and girls in Heaven don’t? Why are we here if the Earth is not that great and Heaven is perfect?” my five year old son asks me with tears in his eyes.  I would usually say he was doing his usual bedtime filibuster, but we did just lose our precious dog, Hobbes, a little over a month ago.  The terrible understanding that death is permanent has hit Jack earlier than I had hoped. What If God Snatched You Up Into Heaven Right Now?

So, I’m reading a little Genesis this afternoon and it’s all, “This dude fathered this guy and this man made this baby who had more babies….”  and  all the sudden this man named Enoch is snatched.  Into Heaven.  Because God and him and like total BFFs.  WHAT?!  Amongst a bunch of boring who-fathered-who hoopla, Enoch disappears.  Here are the verses: Continue reading

Heaven Standard Time (Or HST)

I’m not one to talk too much about religion.  I consider myself a Christian.  I believe in Jesus and God and all that jazz.  I also, have much respect for other religions and beliefs and feel that many of them are connected to the same general ideologies.  Be kind to one another.  Appreciate what you have.  When you die, you won’t really die.  You’ll go on to live forever, somewhere.  Probably, Heaven.  Heaven has always fascinated me.  What’s it like?  Who is there?  Are we still ourselves or do we become warm glittery beams of light?  Maybe we all take the form of dogs and God plays fetch with us for the rest of eternity.
